The Hong Kong protests against the extradition bill had an impact on Taiwan’s presidential and legislative elections and raised the Hong Kong people’s expectations toward Taiwanese democracy, sparking many to travel to Taiwan in groups to observe the elections. At election rallies, flags and banners featuring slogans from the Hong Kong protest movement such as “Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of our Time” could be seen displayed prominently amid the crowds.
